We are OlsAro Crop Biotech AB, a Swedish innovative agtech startup dedicated to developing solutions that empower agriculture to combat the challenges posed by climate change. Our initial focus lies in tackling salinity, a significant abiotic stressor impacting plant growth globally. Considering that 20% of the world's arable land and up to 50% of irrigated cultivatable land grapple with salinity-related cultivation challenges, the market potential is extensive. With a first focus on wheat OlsAro has also commenced work on additional traits such as heat tolerance and nitrogen use efficiency to further enhance crop resilience. Role Overview

As our Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), you will report directly to the CEO and will join the executive leadership team of the company. You'll be the driving force behind our commercial strategy, leveraging your expertise in the seed sector and your ability to engage directly with partners, negotiate deals and together with our partners coordinate product development and monitor field trials. You will also be responsible for managing our current partnerships and ensuring customer success, further solidifying our market presence and enhancing our reputation for delivering value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute pioneering commercial strategies, leveraging your deep knowledge of the seed sector to drive growth and market penetration.

  • Lead efforts to identify new market opportunities and cultivate strategic partnerships within the seed industry, maximizing revenue streams and market presence.

  • Responsible for guaranteeing the delivery of milestones within existing collaborations and for fostering mutually beneficial collaborations.

  • Forge strong, lasting relationships with key stakeholders, including seed companies, agricultural organizations, and research institutions.

  • Take a hands-on approach to licensing and sales, engaging directly with customers, leading negotiations, and driving licensing and sales initiatives to meet revenue targets.

  • Lead business & licensing negotiations, contract review and management of documents including Partnership Agreements, MTA’s and CDA’s.

  • Together with our partners, coordinate seed production and field trials to validate the effectiveness of our pre-breeding innovations, ensuring seamless execution and alignment with commercial objectives.

  • Collaborate with research and development to identify and prioritize crop, technology and market combinations.

  • Participate in relevant industry meetings and trade shows, as well as engaging with potential partners globally for both inbound and outbound opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Business Administration with experience working in the seed industry. Or Master’s degree in Bioengineering, Breeding or Agriculture with experience working in Business development or Alliance / Partnership management.

  • Proven track record of success in commercial or business development roles within the seed sector, with a deep understanding of its nuances and dynamics.

  • Demonstrated ability to engage directly with partners, negotiate deals, drive sales and licensing deals, and together with strategic partners coordinate field trials in a competitive market environment.

  • A strong, international network is needed to succeed in this role.

  • Strong leadership skills, with a passion for shaping commercial strategy and driving revenue growth.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Fluency in English is essential for this role, and proficiency in Swedish will be considered a plus.

  • Ability to adapt to rapid changes and be flexible in taking on various tasks as needs arises as well as the ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience from being part of a scale-up journey, or a comprehensive insight into the process of scaling a business from its early stages.

Position details

The position is full time and permanent, a six month probationary period will be applied. Additionally, for the right candidate we will offer the opportunity to become part of the OlsAro options program after the probationary period. The position can be filled from May 1st 2024, depending on the candidate’s availability.

Location: OlsAro is based in Sweden, in our office situated at Medicinaregatan 9C, Gothenburg. Physical attendance in Sweden, Gothenburg is preferred.
